We have GOT to change this. I know professors who teach differently, but there aren't that many.
There is absolutely no reason why we don't start by reading the whole assignment in Latin outloud to start with (or for the teacher to), then (if need be, ugh) go around the class and have each one translate, but then AT LEAST end class with everyone reading the Latin together, with feeling, with expression, NATURALLY.
That's the LEAST we can do, ya know?
There's just got to be a way to make reading a Latin author MORE about reading the LATIN and not translating.
