If you've never read this book, check it out from a library. My cheese has been moved but I'm going to be the good mouse that goes off looking for new cheese instead of whining about the cheese that's gone.

It's official. I get a different room. I am officially out of the 6th grade wing. I just wish I could have known sooner, but a lot of things will be different this year and it's important to just suck it up and make the best of it. The worst part, to me, is that this new room has only one small chalkboard. One. In fact, I keep getting stuck on that one point.

I made a crude sketch of the room so I can ponder it later. It has potential. And, as I said before, it's not the change that upsets me as much as the late change.

But this is a good lesson for all new teachers to learn: go with the flow. Accept change as a big wave coming in and decide whether you want it to crash on top of you or whether you are going to hang ten and ride it for all it's worth.

So, it's off to the beach and with luck the custodians will have moved file cabinets and my teacher's desk and a few other major things before I get back.

Do you know about whiteboard contact paper? You can get some and make everything into whiteboards.

I hadn't heard about the contact paper; I will look into that. I do have a set of small whiteboards made from showerboard. You go to Home Depot (hardware store of some sort), get a sheet of showerboard, go find a helpful worker and sing a song about being a teacher and could he/she please cut up the board into 12 inch squares for you. I lined mine with electrical tape (cost more than the board!) and have been using them ever since.

I may need to make more boards, alas, but am waiting to see my class roster (which I better get tomorrow!!!)

EVEN STILL, I don't exactly have a *place* for another whiteboard or chalkboard....
