It is normal to feel totally overwhelmed and panicky when school is about to start and you feel that nothing is ready.

Usually today would be a set-up-your-room day but it was nothing but meetings. Productive meetings. New principal, LOTS of changes in what we do and how we do it. All sounding good. But then I go to my room, which is not the room I thought I would get but a portable, and every time I walk in a new panic hits me. WHERE WILL MY BIG BEAUTIFUL POSTERS GO??? No wall space. Portables have low ceilings. There's no room for posters above the chalkboard or on side walls, really. Either vents or windows or chalkboards are in the way. There's only 1 bulletin board, and I want to save that for student work and such.

I don't know where I'll be posting grades (try to post current grades weekly).
I don't know where I'll have job assignments posted, though I do have an idea, I think.
I don't know where my big poster of Pompeii's forum will go. (I designed posters which I sell at www.cafepress.com/animaaltera.)
What about my Lindsey Davis posters/murals?
What about my maps?
I think I can see uses for my smaller posters....

ALL TRIVIAL IN A WAY, but important too. I *must* have my poster of Augustus up somewhere because we say salve to him...

AND WHEN---WHEN---will I have time to set up the desks?
No schedules/class rosters until Friday at the earliest. School starts next Tuesday. I want to get rid of some of the desks in my room but don't know how many kids I'm getting.

Ok, very little of this is truly Latin related but it's all about getting the year started right. That first week is just SO DAMNED IMPORTANT! Organization and structure is so critical or the rest of the year you are chasing the students and they are running the show.

Deep breath......
