Today was the first day we were allowed to work on setting up our classes. I madly finished moving boxes and stuff right before the rain came pouring down.
And I made great progress today.
*hung screen for overhead
*situated table with projector (suprAproiector)
*arranged rows of desks (there are 29 in the room, and I don't think I could fit in another!)
*arranged my desk
*arranged location of computer table, which will be ok but not perfect (that is, I won't be able to have students reviewing for a quiz at the computer if they were absent the day before without other students being able to see the screen over the student's shoulder)
*hung up posters--AND THERE WAS ROOM FOR MY BIG POSTERS! Yippee! I have a lot of posters. Some need to be revised, but I've designed probably 3/4 of them. For free downloadable posters go to www.camwscpl.org and go to the FOR EDUCATORS page. Use photopaper and if you have access to an 11X17 printer (try the journalism dept) enlarge posters to fit. Also, don't forget posters at www.cafepress.com/animaaltera --lovely posters of Pompeii, Rome, and Ostia.
*set up my computer and it works. Good!
*began labeling desks and the room.
STILL TO DO.... (PLENTY)
-make overheads for praeparAtiOnEs (warm-ups)
-revise officiI (job list), laminate and post
-finish tabula pEnsOrum and post
-make place for grades to be posted for each class
-find Latin Moments stuff to post
-find Accountable Talk stuff to post
-finish revisions on policy sheet, procedures, etc and PHOTOCOPY, PHOTOCOPY, PHOTOCOPY
-finish setting up my desk area
-set up the rest of the other computers and locate the PowerPoint for "Why Study Latin?"
-finish PowerPoint review/beginning of the year overview
-MAKE SIGN FOR DOOR with my schedule
Oh, and take my suits to the drycleaner and polish my shoes. ha!
But I'm feeling much better about stuff now!
