Ok, TODAY I had fun. I connected with the kids, got to talk about the sponge on the stick, etc etc.
No, I didn't really get through all of the procedures sheet with all the Latin the way I wanted to. I'm going to hit the highlights on the accompanying vocab list tomorrow and dive into my pronunciation guide (to go with CLC).
Went through procedures today, why I have them, what we do, etc. I thought long and hard on how to IMPROVE my procedures in class and I think my improvements will work very well.
I had a great time in the Teen Leadership class. We did a warmup on describing a time you DISrespected a sibling, why you did it, whether you feel justified, etc. I went first. ha. Not writing that here. But I wanted to point out that this wasn't going to be a goody goody class. Not a "let me lecture you on how to be good ickle boys and girls" no not me. I told them that I wanted to acknowledge their feelings and maybe talk about how it's ok to feel a certain way and that what we need to do growing up is learn when to keep those feelings to yourself.
Oh, I had a student who didn't know what a prof was today. That's the level of educational background of some of these students.
And some of these kids are really neat. I think I will like the looseness of this class; the fact that I won't be marching through a book.
I just wish I could come up with some good ideas.
OHOHOHOHOH. I know what I'll do FRIDAY! I'll play TAXI except no matter what the passengers say, the TAXI driver has to be respectful or he doesn't get paid. I'll let the student audience vote on whether to pay or not.
OH THIS WILL BE SO FUN! (Wonder if I can find some old monopoly money? Oh, I know. I'll pay in chocolate!!!!!)
YEAH! THE WEEK IS PLANNED! I CAN SURVIVE THE WEEK NOW! OHBOYOHBOYOHBOY
