So, I've been letting my brain surf around searching for ways to improve what the Latin 3's learn.
If I want to improve/increase reading skills, according to Distler's _Teach the Latin, I Pray You_, I need to assign reading that is at a lower/easier level (previous year's readings) as extra readings. The question is, HOW could I fit in assessment & accountability and NOT detract from teaching time?
I had a thought--what if this was a weekend assignment? AND what if they had to summarize it IN LATIN? Then, on Monday, I could pick 3 at random to post on the projector and discuss. During tests I could check for the correct number of summaries. Maybe have them correct one for a quiz grade per grading period.
It has possibilities.
I should play with it.... maybe think about what old stories from Latin 1/2 would complement which stories in Latin 3. Needs more thought. But there should really be something more that makes Latin 3 pre AP. ANYTHING to get them thinking more carefully about cases and endings.
